Cool! I got to try it out at the Agile Öresund 2008 unconference that I helped organize. We had two tracks of lightning talks that started the day (followed by open space), and we had all the presenters introduce their 10 minute lightning talk in a 45 second elevator pitch. They went up in pairs, the two speakers who would be in parallell sessions, and the attendees had the list of sessions so they could immediately mark the session they wanted to attend.

At the Benelux and France XP Days we give every speaker one minute at the opening plenary to market their session.

Many presenters come up with interesting and fun ways of standing out from the crowd, which sets the right tone for the rest of the conference.
